Dr. Sunil Kothari Honorary Lecture: Alarmel Valli on Bharatanatyam

The Jerome Robbins Dance Division welcomes Alarmél Valli to deliver the third annual Dr. Sunil Kothari Honorary Lecture on classical Indian dance at the Library for the Performing Arts. Guru to the Ramaswamys, Ms. Valli is a celebrated Bharatanatyam dancer and choreographer, acclaimed for her ability to turn a traditional classical grammar into a subtle, deeply internalized, personal dance poetry, that is able to connect with audiences across the board, from the specialist to the layperson. Amongst numerous awards received by Valli are the Padma Bhushan and Padma Sri from the President of India, The Chevalier of Arts and Letters from the French Government.
