Dear friend,
The arts provide an intangible sense of awe, a joyful means of communication during challenging times. For nearly 28 years, Ragamala has been unwavering in our commitment to creating moving experiences that form eternal connections between us - a commitment that has only heightened in recent weeks.
An audience comment from 2012 might capture it best:
"It was unreal. Moving. Inspiring. I’m going through an existential crisis right now…lots of changes and life decisions, etc. This helped me come back to what’s important."
Let’s stay connected during this time — through dance, poetry, food, and other creative motivations. We look forward to sharing these experiences with you in the coming weeks.
Please stay safe and healthy,
Ranee, Aparna, Ashwini, and
the Ragamala staff
EXPERIENCE
New this week: 'The Archives: Ragamala's Roots ' on YouTube
We are excited to share a Playlist we have added to our YouTube channel, ' The Archives: Ragamala's Roots ,' featuring performances with short 'selfie' videos from the artists. For our first entry, we wanted to share with you a video of Ranee and Aparna in the very early years — when they had just started as students of the legendary Smt. Alarmel Valli. It has been a long and beautiful journey with so much more to come .
ENGAGE
Great literary listen: Poetry Unbound
Ragamala's work is deeply influenced by literature and poetry, and Poetry Unbound is a wonderfully accessible way to experience poetry. The podcast features an immersive exploration of a single poem, guided by Pádraig Ó Tuama. Short and unhurried; contemplative and energizing.
